i knew him quite well, he was a member of the rocky mountain sabers. i used to have a sabre before i got my VTX i rode quite a few miles with him and stacey.
he lived not far from me.
as i understand it he and stacey were headed north on 83 a older man in a white pickup attempted to pass 4 vehicles in his lane.
jeremy attempted to stop / avoid the truck. the bike high sided ejecting both riders and the truck ran over the bike.
jeremy died at the scene and stacey was life flighted to the hospital where she spent about 2 months part in intensive care and followup after. they had 3 kids.
jeremy was struggling to make it as an insurance agent with farmers insurance. i know first hand what that is like and how difficult it is to make it in this business.
it was an unfortunate loss..
i do know that there was a lawsuit for the driver who caused this. i do not know the outcome but i know that during the process somehow the driver plead not guilty.
i am not sure how anyone could come to that conclusion while passing other cars, especially 4 of them!

we have the same problem here in colorado springs with rocky mountain cycle! a friend of mine took his dirtbike there to get it running right, they were supposed to have rejetted it. he ended up taking it there 3 more times to fix the problem and they were unable to do anything with it! each time they said it was fixed.
anyway after taking it oover to APEX sports they diagnosed the problem as being Jetting, rejetted the bike and it runs like a champ now. clearly Rocky mountain has no clue what they are doing!
i only take wheels in to get tires swapped at rocky thats about all their service department is good for anyway.

as an insurance agent i can tell you from personal experience Allstate is one of the WORST and so is state farm, this is a classic example of the use of a computer program that both companies use called colussus its a database that dictates how much an injury is worth. unfortunatly there are tens of thousands of people in litigation with allstate for exactly this reason.
do a web search of "allstate lawsuit" or "allstate insurance complaints"
as for the rest of you if you have allstate i would cancel and switch to another company. im not trying to pad my pockets here but there is a reason why my company has a 97% retention nationwide and why we have few is any people complain about how we pay claims.
remember when you see ads about the companies who save you the most money on tv realize that it costs billions to put thoes ads on the television and millions saved to pay for a lot of thoes ads by dodging claims and settling for less than you deserve!

LadyVTXrider. did you guys get the department of insurance involved in this?

perhaps i could take a look at your policy and help you make sure this type of thing doesnt happen to you again?

i talked my way out of a ticket doing 90 in a 65 and i totally deserved it! the cop knew he didnt have a case as it was after dark and claims he identified me out of a group by my bright headlights. i think he knew how he was going to look with that defense in court! gave me a warning.
unfortunatly i have heard about your rules in texas, the best you can hope for here is a plea bargin to plead guilty to a lesser charge, unfortunatly they wont lower the fine, only the points. if you dont live here and since your not a habitual traffic offender pay the fine and move along!
no sence in wasting your time and money fighting a loosing battle.

IMO i think cops target out of state vehicles because they know the odds of them having to show for a court appearance are slim to none! who in their right mind would want to take the time to drive across the country for a court case? they will drag it on for months it totally would be cheaper to pay the fine, lick your wounds and deal.

it doesnt make any difference to me what way you guys want to get back, we can go back the same way we got there if you like. i suggested the grand junction route because i know some of you live on the northwestern slope and north of denver. i live in colorado springs so for me the ride is shorter to come back any way except through grand junction which i am fine with.
we can take a vote when we get to pagosa if you like, nothing set in stone for sunday.

For any of the North riders going to Pagosa Springs on Saturday, Dennis and I talked about meeting and riding down together to Colorado Springs. We came up with meeting on the Southbound on-ramp from Lincoln Ave. This is the Plan: If you're heading south on I-25, exit at Lincoln Ave.; As you get to Lincoln Ave., there are two lefthand (eastbound) turn lanes to Lincoln, get in the right-hand lane of these two lanes, after you turn left on Lincoln, you make a immediate right to get on the on-ramp to southbound I-25; We'll meet about one-third of the way down the ramp, so as not to impied traffic. Let me know if this works, or if there is any confusion, or if you have any questions, or maybe a better place to meet. Let us know. TOM

you might want to leave a meeting time, no sence in people waiting around all morning. maybe a "window" of 15 minutes would be sufficient

My starter switch is funky. Can't buy a new switch, have to buy the entire harnes from Honda for $$$$. Sometimes I press it and it doesn't fire. Cycle the kill switch wait for fuel pump prime again and usually goes on the 2nd try. This might sound crazy, but I swear it will start if I twist the throttle even slightly when I press the start switch.

The other way to eliminate the start switch is to jump the ignition rather than using the starter switch.

that switch is easy to fix i have fixed several, you just need to take it apart and clean it a little and put a slight bend in the contact that slides with the switch. free fix, if you can get it to me ill fix it for ya

interesting, i was in my lexus yesterday and after leaving best buy i felt and heard some thumping comming from the back tire. then as i sped up i hear somthing hitting the underside of the car.
turns out a big hunk of tar stuck to my tire and was so heavy it was throwing the balance off on that wheel.
so i did what any guy would do, i had to get it off!
so i found a nearby parking lot and did a burnout in the parking lot (love rear wheel drive) and managed to get it off successfully but now i got all kinds of tar all up inside my wheel well. have no idea how im going to get that off!

I spent about an hour last night checking connections and switches. Everything is tight and the kill switch is fine. When I moved it from one garage to another, it started on the second push on the stand, so I think that I can rule out the side stand as an issue.

From the sound and feel of what's going on, I think it might be a bad starter. The silinoid will engage 90% of the time, it just seems like it struggles to turn the engine over once in awhile. With the starter switch weatherproffed in the housing, I don't know where a good point would be to test it.

perhaps is the wire that attaches to the starter itself, maybe a loose nut?

Sounds like Gremlins...wish I had some better advice but short of bringing it over and letting me get a meter on everything not sure what else to recommend. Would be happy to look at it if you have the time to run it by. PM me if you are interested...like Bass M...I love troubleshooting 12v issues. Takes me back to my car audio days :-)

u used to install car audio? cool! ive got about 12 years behind me in that arena, where do you think Bass Mechanic came from? i was on my way to a patent not too many years ago. my specialty is subwoofer enclosures. i used to install for the denver broncos back in 91 did several of the players cars back in the day..

These are all great suggestions that I'll look at. I called the RPM and I'm still under warranty, probably a smarter move I made buying the bike was to get the extended warranty. I'll drop it off with them if we're not able to figure things out.

try holding the starter button while on the stand, when it gives out keep holding and then try holding the bike upright, this will confirm if it had anything to do with it being on the stand, check and see if its 2 button presses before it starts or has somthing to do with being on the stand.
if the second button press gets it going i would say its a faulty starter switch and it just happens to make intermitent contact. the starter button on the hondas is common problem but usually affects the headlight not turning on.

i love troubleshooting electrical problems (seriously) in a previous life i was an electronics repair tech in many different fields and 12 volt is my favorite. i guarentee you i can solve the issue if i can have about 10 minutes with the machine.

I'm still checking but the oak ridge lodge has rooms for about $80, the econo lodge and holiday in express were both $100+. the other places that came up on the search were all $100+ a night as well so.... im gonna say the oak ridge lodge, at least for me. anyone wanna double or triple up on a room, my wife wont be along for this ride.

Bass i dont care which way we get back

James

ps. that was for a nonsmoking 2 x doubles room. 2 x queens is $85

ill share the room with you as i have not made my own resevations yet, if anyone is an odd man out and cannot afford the room on their own ill get my own and you can split with someone else.
P.S.
im in favor of 2 queens

ok i called 1 motel in pagosa, the rooms are 70 a night for 2 adults, however you might consider putting 2 adults in 1 room at a cost of 96 dollars a night split 4 ways comes to 25 bucks per person.
i called in durango and i think the rates are a little higher.
so here is what i propose, i need to know who is in for sure, here in this thread and we all discuss who would be willing to share a room, some have suggested camping, im sure there is a camp ground nearby and that would totally rock in my opinion! i have a sleeping bag and air mattress but no tent, i also have limited means to transport that equipment on my bike. maybe we can talk grandpa into bringing his trike? i thought he had a trailer?
dunno, anyway if we can all cordinate here on the sleeping arrangements it would be a fun 2 day ride.

bap, scheduled for july 18th.

Carol, its not so much an issue of the rates in 1 location verses another ite more of an issue of having rooms available.
i am not sure where you are from but from colorado springs, pagosa is an easy 240 mile trip that should take about 3.5 hours to make. if we continue to durango its another 50 miles and if we go through grand junction that is roughly anopther 175 miles and another 225 from junction to denver.
pagosa and durango are close enough that only 50 miles leaves more than 1 option as for rooms.

we would be taking I-25 south, to 160 west to get to pagosa then 550, and 50 north to junction then I-70 back east to denver
